Architecture for Life

At BRIBURN we practice Architecture for Life: The creation of architecture that is timeless, environmentally friendly, beautiful, and long-lasting. It is architecture that focuses on the experiences of the building’s occupants, enhancing their daily lives with natural daylight, excellent ventilation, and delightful spaces that engage their artful minds. It is architecture that is mindful of our finite resources and respectful of the natural environment. It is architecture that stands the test of time by being very durable, simple to operate, economical to maintain, and beautiful.

Philosophy

We are at a pivotal place in the history of our environment and at BRIBURN we take our role in it seriously. Our understanding of sustainability is deep and our commitment true. We are committed to being at the forefront of building science, energy efficiency, and the latest sustainable products and techniques. While many other firms struggle to keep up with the latest energy codes (even while touting themselves as “green”) we are working on buildings that heat themselves almost entirely with the sun, and offset the costs of high-performing building envelopes with less expensive mechanical systems. By energy modeling all our designs, we can balance investments with savings, reduce consumption, increase durability, ensure high indoor air quality, and incorporate healthy, low-toxin, resource-efficient materials.

AIA 2030 Commitment

In 2019 BRIBURN made the AIA 2030 commitment to make all new buildings and renovations carbon-neutral by the year 2030. This is no small feat. In April 2020 BRIBURN reported 11 projects, most of which exceeded the 80% energy reduction target for 2020. We are very proud of this accomplishment and look forward to continuing our commitment in the coming years. Learn more
